The Magnum originated at the German Hop Research Institute Huell in Germany. The pedigrees are Galena and the German male hop Nr. 75/5/3. The Magnum has gained acceptance as a clean bittering hop for all Ales and Lagers. Mostly grown in Germany but limited acreage can be found in US. This is a variety free of all 5 major viruses, resistant to verticillium wilt and can be susceptible to powdery mildew.
